Cascade Elementary School in Orem was originally built in 1968 and required replacing. The new one-story layout features the latest in modern school design elements, including 35+ classrooms, administrative and faculty areas, a computer lab, media center, multi-purpose lunchroom area, and music room. Additionally, the design incorporates safety features such as one main entrance that visitors are forced by locked doors to go to, while requiring visitors to step into the main office before entering the rest of the school. The exterior features ample recess and recreation areas, with multiple basketball standards and jungle-gym equipment. Due to the school’s north-facing orientation, heated sidewalks were also installed.
